Due to the thickness and weight of the Aermacchi wing it was necessary to deviate from a standard flat design. The wing weighed in excess of 200kgs and was so thick that if the wing lay horizontal in the design it would be difficult for people to fit their legs under the table and still have a comfortable arm to surface height.
