Constructed from reclaimed sheet metal, and made in the style of an old aircraft black box (flight data recorder). 

Please note these cup holders are not made from actual Flight Data Recorders. They are made from reclaimed scrap metal, mainly off cuts, sheet metal from computer towers and various white goods.
